Welcome to AWARA’s first weekly writing competition! We are excited to have you here and can’t wait to see what you come up with.
This week’s prompt
Should I stay or should I go? For most Pakistanis, the decision to remain in (or return to) the homeland is never obvious. Tell us how your identity has been shaped by remaining in the homeland, being part of the diaspora, or both—and any accompanying regrets or yearning that comes with it.
Submissions must be received via Google Forms by Friday, October 10 at 5pm BST / 12pm ET.

Eligibility criteria
You must be 18+
You must be subscribed to Awara on Substack
Unpublished work only
All entries must be in English
Entries must be less than 500 words
Only one submission per entrant—if you submit multiple entries, you will be disqualified
Prizes
1st place: Piece shared on Awara Substack one week post-competition AND published in monthly digital magazine
2nd place: Piece shared on Substack two weeks post-comp
3rd place: Piece shared on Substack three weeks post-comp
